20 Best Support Characters In Genshin Impact

Support characters are also important in Genshin Impact, even though DPS and heals get most of the attention. Which fans are the best in the game?

Support characters are also important in Genshin Impact, even though DPS and heals get most of the attention. Which fans are the best in the game?

Genshin Impact is an engaging game that puts a lot of emphasis on working together and being strategic. For every group of four characters, there is a unique set of jobs. Damage dealers and healers usually get the most praise from the community. But support characters are often forgotten about or thought to be average, even though they are very important to the success of a team because they help the damage dealers do their best work and have a bigger effect than some players may think.

Genshin Impact has a term for characters who do something other than damage or heal. These characters are called “support characters.” As part of these jobs, they heal, buff, debuff, control crowds, provide battery, shield, and enable while not being on the battlefield most of the time.

Niche Support Characters: Sara, Gorou, Shenhe, Faruzan, Mika, Chevreuse

Genshin Impact Niche Support Gorou Shenhe Faruzan Sara

Since Sara, the first niche support character that boosts the power of a single element, came out, Genshin Impact has released more support characters that work best when used in teams that focus on that element’s harm. As of now, the game has Sara (Electro 4-star), Gorou (Geo 4-star), Faruzan (Anemo 4-star), Shenhe (Cryo 5-star), and Mika (Cryo/Physical 4-star) as support characters. For each of them to work, their support abilities need the presence of their corresponding element on the team.

Another problem with these specialized support characters is that they need formations to compete with more general support characters, which can be hard for some characters like Shenhe. These characters can really help a team if they’re used right, but they’re not as famous as other support characters because they can’t do many different things.

Another interesting addition is Chevreuse, who stands out because he is not a single-element buffer like the others. She instead focuses on the Overloaded reaction, which hasn’t gotten as much attention as other Pyro or Electro reactions that are thought to produce more DPS. But Chevreuse should be recognized in this area because of her niche and the fact that she can only benefit from having Electro and Pyro characters on the team, which is kind of like Nilou’s bloom reactions. She can also heal the character that is on the move. I especially like how her last constellation makes Pyro or Electro-focused teams stronger, even more so than popular support characters like Kazuha in her area.

Xiangling

Genshin Impact Xiangling
  • Rarity: 4-star polearm-user
  • Element: Pyro
  • Support Type: Enabling, Attack-boosting

It’s hard to put Xiangling in the category of a normal support character because her Pyro ability makes her better at being a sub-DPS. Because she always uses Pyro, she can easily set off melt and vaporize reactions off-field, which can be very helpful for many team setups. At Ascension 4, Gouba will leave behind a Chili Pepper before going away. This chili pepper will give the person who gets it a small but welcome boost by increasing their character’s attack damage by 10%.

She has six constellations that can help Pyro DPS units. Her first constellation lowers enemies’ Pyro resistance by 15% when hit by Guoba, and her sixth constellation raises characters’ Pyro DMG by 15% while her Elemental Burst, Pyronado, is active. Because Xiangling’s Burst is her most important ability, players should pay attention to her Energy Recharge values. If her Energy Recharge is low, it will be hard for her to keep her Burst up because it costs a lot of Energy.

Kirara

Genshin Impact Kirara Demo
  • Rarity: 4-star sword-user
  • Element: Dendro
  • Support Type: Shielding, Burst-Support, Enabling, Exploration

Kirara is the newest member of Genshin Impact and the first and only character from Inazuma Dendro to be added to the lineup. She is one of a kind in the game because, in addition to her special skills in battle, she is also one of the best Exploration characters for going long distances or climbing steep hills. This is because she changes into a state that makes her much faster at climbing and running while using much less energy. For people who are still exploring the map, she is a fun and useful figure to have on the team.

Kirara also has some advantages when it comes to her fighting skills. The most important thing she can do is make a shield, which can be very useful, especially in teams that use Bloom and its variations, which can hurt other team members when they explode. Because of this, Kirara is the only Dendro shielding character besides Baizhu, who may be much harder to get since he is a 5-star limited-time character. This means that many players who didn’t get Baizhu may still be able to use a Dendro shielding character. Also, Kirara can play both on and off the field, which gives her a lot of flexibility depending on the team. Because of this, she can also be built to be a Burst-Support or Dendro supporter.

Albedo

genshin impact albedo pull
  • Rarity: 5-star sword-user
  • Element: Geo
  • Support Type: Elemental Mastery-boosting, Shielding

This is Albedo’s great AoE zone, thanks to his elemental skill having a very short delay. This makes him a great sub-DPS for Geo DMG off-field. Each part of the AoE zone can also help make shields with Crystallize responses when used with a Pyro, Cryo, Electro, or Hydro user. Albedo’s Crystallize generation is one of a kind because he doesn’t remove the element that was applied. This means that he doesn’t stop other possible elemental processes.

One more thing: Albedo’s 4th ascension passive can be a great addition to many teams because it raises the team’s Elemental Mastery by 125 after he uses his Elemental Burst. Albedo is also easy to build and scales well with DEF, so he can be a great addition to a Geo-focused team with Gorou and Itto. An added bonus is that Albedo works well with Navia because his Crystallize response is very useful.

Mona

genshin impact mona
  • Rarity: 5-star catalyst-user
  • Element: Hydro
  • Support Type: Enabling, DMG Buff, Crowd Control

Gamers who have been watching Genshin Impact for a while may have noticed that Mona has become a popular choice for top-level Burst DPS builds. It’s because of her Elemental Burst skill, which boosts Elemental damage when used at the right time. When Mona uses her Burst ability, she makes a debuff bubble that catches enemies and does more damage to them. When the bubble pops, it does an extra explosion of Hydro damage. You can use this Hydro blast to start strong Elemental Reactions like Melt or Vaporize, which do a lot of damage. Additionally, Mona’s first Constellation, which isn’t too hard to get since she’s a Standard 5-star character, makes her a much better support for teams that use Elemental Reaction.

Along with her Elemental Burst, Mona was the first exploration character to have a different way to run. This made moving through the water much faster and gave her a unique way to move for fast actions. The easiest way for her to use Hydro is with her Elemental Skill, which works best for Freeze teams. This skill also helps control crowds by calling up a fake that taunts enemies.

Diona

Genshin Impact Diona Bow Shooting Attack
  • Rarity: 4-star bow-user
  • Element: Cryo
  • Support Type: Shielding, Healing, Battery, Enabling

A lot of people know Diona as a medic because of her Elemental Burst, but she also brings some special skills to the team. Her AoE healing zone also applies Cryo every so often, but it’s not as strong as some other boosters’. Diona’s Elemental skill is also very useful; it lets her create a shield and energy particles, which makes her a strong team battery.

Diona can also be very useful for teams that depend on Elemental Reactions and high Elemental Mastery if her sixth sign is unlocked. Her sixth symbol will not only let her Elemental Burst heal, but it will also give everyone in the party more Elemental Mastery, which will make them do a lot more damage.

Charlotte

Genshin Impact Charlotte-1
  • Rarity: 4-star catalyst-user
  • Element: Cryo
  • Support Type: Healing, Battery, Sub-DPS, Enabling

There are some similarities between Charlotte and Diona because they are both Cryo figures who can heal. If you put together the right team, Charlotte might be better than Diona because her healing style works better with many Fontaine characters, like Wriothesley, who need their HP to go up and down more quickly to use artifact sets like the Marechaussee Hunter.

In addition to being able to heal, Charlotte can also act as a sub-DPS because her Elemental Skill works in a way that is similar to Nahida’s. Without certain artifact sets, Charlotte can’t buff the team like Diona can with Elemental Mastery, but her consistent use of Cryo in an AoE form makes her a great choice, particularly for Perma-freeze teams.

Yaoyao

Genshin-Impact-Yaoyao
  • Rarity: 4-star polearm-user
  • Element: Dendro
  • Support Type: Healing, Battery, Enabling

In patch 3.4, Yaoyao, the long-awaited first Dendro Healer in Genshin Impact, was finally added to the game. Because of her unique skills, she can heal both on and off the field, making her one of the strongest healers in the game. To get the most out of her as a support character, players should carefully place her White Jade Radishes to get the best Dendro application and reactions for their team. If she’s placed correctly, she can have powerful Dendro application abilities.

You can easily make Yaoyao into a character that is very useful as a backup. When building her and, if they’re lucky, earning her first constellation, players should focus on her HP%, Energy Recharge, and Elemental Mastery to get the most out of her healing and particle production and to boost her Dendro Damage and Reactions. More clusters will help the team heal and be useful even more.

Venti

genshin venti elemental burst anemo
  • Rarity: 5-star bow-user
  • Element: Anemo
  • Support Type: Crowd Control, Battery, Debuffer (via 4p Viridescent Venerer)

Controlling a crowd is a fairly specific set of support skills. Venti, on the other hand, shows how strong this skill is. Venti is one of the best backup characters in Genshin Impact when it comes to making sure the crowd stays calm. Venti’s Elemental Burst pulls enemies in and throws them into the air, dealing Anemo Damage all the time. This skill doesn’t work as well against bigger and faster enemies, but it can still help attack teams that are having trouble hitting the enemy because it can be used to group them together without throwing them into the air.

Venti can be a great battery and sub-DPS if he is built right, especially if some of his constellations are open. The Viridescent Venerer artifact set can be used by Venti and other Anemo user support characters. It increases the damage done by Swirl and lowers the enemy’s Elemental RES to the element used in the Swirl by 40% for 10 seconds. This means that his Burst can greatly boost the main damage dealer’s damage, even if it is hard to use against enemies that are self-infused. This is because it requires the right element to be infused into it.

Kokomi

genshin impact sangonomiya kokomi idle animation water hydro fish
  • Rarity: 5-star catalyst-user
  • Element: Hydro
  • Support Type: Enabling, Healing

Sangonomiya Kokomi is an interesting character because she doesn’t easily work as an offensive character in any way. On the other hand, she is one of the best healers and support characters in Genshin Impact and became even more famous because of reactions to Dendro. Her elemental skill makes a “bake-kurage” that instantly applies Hydro-based status conditions, a lot like how Mona’s phantoms do the same thing. But here’s the catch: Kokomi’s elemental burst also heals and makes her “bake-kurage” stronger.

Since Kokomi can heal, deal damage, and use Hydro to start elemental processes all off-field at the same time, she is a character that can play a lot of different roles on a team. She works best with Bloom and Hyperbloom teams because she can easily heal the character that gets hurt by the Dendro Core explosion.

Raiden Shogun

genshin impact raiden shogun ei main story quest
  • Rarity: 5-star polearm-user
  • Element: Electro
  • Support Type: Battery, Enabling

The Electro Archon Raiden Shogun has a lot of skills that use the power of Electro. She is also the best support in the game for regenerating energy. Raiden can be added to any team that needs an Electro element, a Sub-DPS burst unit, or a support unit that can help the team’s Elemental Burst recover. Raiden Shogun is one of the most useful characters in the game because of all the different skills and powers she has. This makes her one of the best characters to get.

Her Elemental Skill is very useful for allowing Elemental reactions because it lets her apply Electro off-field consistently and gives the party a buff that can raise their Elemental Burst Damage. She can also be used as a Burst-DPS because her Elemental Burst is so strong, especially when used after other Elemental Bursts. If players want to keep Raiden on the field after the initial Burst Damage and keep fighting with electro-infused attacks, she can also help other party members and herself make Energy during this time.

Zhongli

Genshin Impact Zhongli Thinking Monster Stone Geo Clouds
  • Rarity: 5-star polearm-user
  • Element: Geo
  • Support Type: Shielding, Debuffing, Crowd Control

Zhongli is a five-star character known for having a special shield. As the Geo Archon, this defense is truly amazing. Actually, Zhongli’s shields are the best in Genshin Impact. They absorb 150% of all physical and elemental damage, so strong that players don’t even need a healer on their team if they have a well-built Zhongli. He can also easily fit into any team.

The Jade Shield of Zhongli protects characters and lowers their opponents’ Elemental RES and Physical RES by 20% in a small area around them. This gives them a big offensive lift. His Elemental Burst is also very strong; it has a large area of effect and freezes foes for a short time. Zhongli’s shield is the strongest and lasts the longest. It also has extra perks that no other character has.

Yelan

Genshin Impact character Yelan
  • Rarity: 5-star bow-user
  • Element: Hydro
  • Support Type: Enabling

Yelan is a very flexible character who can play both support and sub-DPS roles. Her Elemental Skill is also a fast sprint, which makes it easy for them to move around the game world while they’re exploring. Yelan can also use the skill to make a Hydro-infused string that she can use to tie enemies and do a lot of damage.

Overall, her skills are great for filling in for Main DPS characters when they’re not doing much, which makes her a great addition to a wide range of team structures. The most impressive thing about her is her Elemental Burst, which constantly applies Hydro and deals huge Hydro DMG when used with an Active character’s normal attack. She works best with the Vaporize and Bloom teams.

Sucrose

Genshin Impact Sucrose Air Explosion Idle Animation
  • Rarity: 4-star catalyst-user
  • Element: Anemo
  • Support Type: Elemental Mastery-boosting, Crowd Control

Sucrose is an important Anemo player for every team. In the early days of Genshin Impact, she and Mona were often used together to show off big DPS scores. Elemental Mastery is one of her strong buffs that has made her a great addition to any party. She is very good at making Elemental Reactions because her charged Skill can hit multiple enemies more than once for more damage. Her Elemental Burst is a strong AoE move that draws enemies in.

Anyone who wants a free Anemo support character should definitely try Sucrose, especially if they don’t have Venti or Kazuha. If players are aware that her Elemental Burst can be hard to use and costs a lot of energy, they should plan accordingly. She is also not as good at putting things together as Venti is. Sucrose is still one of the best supporting characters in Genshin Impact, even with this.

Bennett

Genshin Impact Bennett Serious Face
  • Rarity: 4-star sword-user
  • Element: Pyro
  • Support Type: ATK Boosting, Healing

Many people think that Bennett is one of the strongest support characters in Genshin Impact because he can heal very well and greatly increase the ATK of the people on his team. He is also pretty simple to build. And even if you don’t put much work into it, he has perks that no other healer does.

Even though there have been changes and new characters, Bennett’s reputation has slightly dropped among other support characters. Bennett doesn’t have a lot of Pyro uses if the other players haven’t triggered his sixth constellation. But he can still mess up Elemental Reaction sets. Also, the ATK buff doesn’t work as well as it used to because new characters have been added that have better HP or Elemental Mastery than ATK. Even so, Bennett is still a playable character in the current meta, though she isn’t as flexible as some others. Even so, Bennett may return to the top of the lists now that characters like Lyney have been released. Lyney needs a mono Pyro team to work best.

Xingqiu

Genshin Impact Xingqiu Rain Blade
  • Rarity: 4-star sword-user
  • Element: Hydro
  • Support Type: Enabling, Damage Reduction, Healing, Battery

Xingqiu, the bookworm, is one of the best supporting characters, even better than Yelan in many ways. With his Elemental Burst, a rain of swords falls around the character, applying Hydro even when he’s not on the field. Because of this, Xingqiu is very helpful to any team.

Also, Xingqiu is different from Yelan and a better support because of his Elemental Skill. Which lowers damage as long as the current character still has at least one Rain Blade. Xingqiu’s Elemental Skill also gives out a lot of Elemental Particles, and when he has the Sacrificial Sword on, he can be a good source of Energy. In addition, Xingqiu’s first ascension passive gives the active character a small amount of healing based on a portion of Xingqiu’s HP and the number of Rain Blades still in Doodle Baseball.

Baizhu

Genshin Impact healer baizhu
  • Rarity: 5-star catalyst-user
  • Element: Dendro
  • Support Type: Healing, Shielding, Buffing

Not long after Yaoyao came out, another Dendro healer named Baizhu was added to the game. The things that make him better than Yaoyao are that he can shield with his ultimate skill and heal with both his Elemental Skill and Elemental burst at the same time. Baizhu’s healing is slower than Yaoyao’s, but she does it completely off-field. Yaoyao, on the other hand, needs to be on the field for a short time in order to use her Elemental Burst.

Furthermore, Baizhu’s Passive ability also increases the effects of Dendro Elemental Reactions based on his HP. This makes him a great character to use, especially with Bloom teams. Since his shielding ability can actually protect team members from taking a lot of damage from Bloom explosions. For that reason, he can also be useful in Spread and Aggravate teams. However, Baizhu doesn’t have a consistent Dendro application like Yaoyao does. So it might be best to pair him with another Dendro character like Nahida so that he can help the team with the Elemental Reaction buff as much as possible.

Nahida

nahida genshin impact
  • Rarity: 5-star catalyst-user
  • Element: Dendro
  • Support Type: Buffing, Enabling

There is no question that Nahida, as the Dendro Archon, is a great support character. If not better than the other Archons. She is the best at using the Dendro Application. Because she is a catalyst user and can always carry out strikes that use Dendro. She is very good at starting the Dendro Application off-field without an ICD, which makes her very useful for any team working on a Dendro response. Her skill in this area is unmatched, and people are eager to hire her.

Her Elemental Burst might not look very strong at first. But that would be wrong. Her Elemental Burst does a lot of damage and helps her friends do more. It deals a lot of damage and lasts a long time, which makes it one of the best Elemental Bursts in Genshin Impact. All of these things make Nahida a great figure to help out.

Kazuha

genshin impact kazuha summer fantasia trailer
  • Rarity: 5-star sword-user
  • Element: Anemo
  • Support Type: Buffing, Enabling, Crowd Control

Because he is so useful, Kazuha is very sought after in Genshin Impact when it comes to support skills. He’s a great addition to teams that use Elemental Reactions and can work well with almost any group. His Elemental Skill also does a good job of controlling crowds. Even bigger enemies can be pushed together, which Venti can’t do. His Elemental Burst spends about average amounts of energy but does a lot more damage to elements for the whole party.

Kazuha is one of the best support characters in the game. Because he can do a lot of different things and doesn’t have many flaws. He is easy to build, and his high level of usefulness makes him a great addition to any team.

Furina

genshin impact scaramouche furina
  • Rarity: 5-star sword-user
  • Element: Hydro
  • Support Type: Buffing, Sub-DPS, Enabling, Healing

Furina is one of the most unique and flexible characters in Genshin Impact. Because of the many ways she can use her kit. Her Elemental Burst lasts a long time and does a lot of damage to enemies. She can also change how she works with a simple charged attack motion, which lets her switch between damaging enemies off-field and healing them. Some players might see this as a weakness, but she is great at everything. Because she is a master of all trades and doesn’t just specialize in one thing. Additionally, Furina is great for exploring the Fontaine area because she can use both Arkhe mechanics.

Even though Fontaine’s main ability to lose and gain HP is built into her kit, players should still be careful about how they handle their HP when using her. Furina’s sub-DPS mode, in which she calls in three adds, will drain up to 50% of the team’s health. If this happens, her sub-DPS will go down and her burst may also go down since there will be no more loss. That being said, players who want the best buffs and Furina’s power might still want to add a healer like Baizhu to their team, since he can always heal everyone in the party.
